Now and Then

If only it were yesterday
I'd have you by my side, and we could relive all our memories
We wouldn't have to hide, and we'd play amoungst the leaves
Please say you love me, cuz I used to know you meant it
You were always lovely, we had something but we bent it
Let's rewind our lives, we lived moment all so special
Let's remember time, I wonder how we meshed it all

If only it were tomorrow
I'd be far away from here, travelling to such distant lands
I'd be moved onto next year, long forgotten by your beach's sands
I'd be out of this whole mess, I'd remember parts like it was dreamed
My life has been so blessed, I'd step back and know it was better than it seemed
I can just outgrow my past, change myself as I learn how to mature
The years had gone so fast, but I'm sure I'm better off in the future

Every single minute of every hour, a moment's passed that I can't get back
I don't know whether to lament over it or celebrate
To rewind or fast forward
Now that is the question
But now that I think about it...

I'm glad that it's today
I've got tomorrow ahead, alot about my future's on my mind
Yesterday's now dead, that doesn't mean I'll leave it all behind
You're part of my past, you're my now and maybe my later
Our friendship never came last, we're number one by any rater
You are my best friend, even though I miss how we could be
I'll help you past the end, help you get your life where it should be
