Breakup

"What's there to fear?" she asked. "What's there to be so afraid of?"
I wasn't quite sure so all I could say was "I think I've just had enough"
I told here "I'm just so tired of everything and I need a little bit of rest
And I'm just so scared of what's coming up next"

The phone rings and I shiver, as the earpiece is growing nearer
Caller ID makes me quiver, and my blood is running cold
The song changes the mood, even moreso than it should
The way this is isn't good. Damn, this is growing old

"Things just have changed" I told her. "I can't choose how I feel"
She wasn't quite sure what to say, just "I always thought this was real"
I sympathise until I realize that her real eyes are a trick
And I know I'm done with this here hypocrite.

Each day is repeating, suddenly my heart is bleeding
For my sake, I'm retreating, times stopped being fun
I'll still see you around, when my arms are no longer bound
We lost what we had found, I'm sorry, but I'm done
