Dogmatic

What's with all these statements? You sound like you're so sure
You're making all these promises with intentions oh so pure
Just let me crash and burn, the heat just might be good for me
I'll burn bright, I'll burn right, I'll burn beautiful

All your words were meant for question marks
I've got an inflated ego, these things, they just poke holes
Don't worry about me, and don't be so naively dogmatic
I love you, but don't get my hopes up

For a best friend, it seems like you avoid me
But you still say things like you know me
To my mind, these things will reach
If you told me on the beach
But now I know you can't make time for me
My phone is on, I'm sitting here
And down my cheek rolls a tear
But now I know you can't make time enough for me
You can't make time for me

All your words were meant for question marks
I've got an inflated ego, these things, they just poke holes
Don't worry about me, and don't be so naively dogmatic
I love you, but don't get my hopes up

Please don't say you love me, don't speak with words too kind
Your words, they come too often, with a meaning hard to find
Meet me, learn me, know me, Just don't judge me prematurely
I'll turn it up, I'll turn it out, I won't turn on you
